...for a friend in the Navy. Water and beach trips rusted out the frame around the winshield in a '70 roadster. Frame etc was just fine. Removed seats (for their own safety) doors, and dash. Chopped out old frame. Got clean junk frame, filled with Rustoleum paint (to prevent a repeat) and welded/bonded "new" frame in. Car came out great. It was a B**** of a job. Probably cost 3-4k to have it done professionally.
I fixed one of these once...

Al,
One thing is for sure, if windshield frame is shot, you will also need carpets since they have been soaking for a long time. Also, you need to peel the carpets back and check the steel floors to see if they have now rotted out too. Also under the dash when the water ran in, see what may or may not have been water damaged including anything electrical. Is the whole interior mildew smelling now from long standing moisture? It could still be a fairly good car though even with some issues. Check the frame as others have said, but I have had more than one car with a rotted windshield frame and a completely intact Frame.Good luck.- Top
