John, thanks for your response! That is all I really wanted to hear. I did get the idea that my local know-it-all had done his resto 10 years ago or better. It wouldn't be the first time he has mislead me. Thats why I brought it up here. I just couldn't see spending the time and money to repare my original if todays "repros" pass judging. I'll probably order the passenger side off Geoffrey or a new set if they only come in pairs. Thanks again!

Jon, just to reiterate, I got my splash shields from CC about 4 years ago for a 62, plus the installation kit and rubber seals. Everything installed fine. I had the shields setting around for a while and some surface rust developed. They come with a fine coating of oil, which prevents the corrosion if painted in a timely manner. I had to have them stripped of the rust before powder coating, but only because they sat too long in a humid environment. They were equal in thickness to my old originals. The installation after painting went fine.
