    Tach cable speed

    All,

I've my tach on e-Bay on sale (7909385915) which currently has a twice cable speed configuration. One of the interrested buyers is asking me if this would fit a FI distributor setup. I guess this is correct since the distributor is turning on twice the speed of the generator. Is this indeed the case ?

    greetings,
    Rob.

Unfortunately, the tach redline would indicate it is for a generator driven tach setup. The 915 distributor, used with the hydraulic lifter engines did not have the tach drive included in it. The low horse FI cars were all equipped with generator driven tachs as I understand it. so the real answer to the question would depend on what HP FI car we are talking about, and is a gen driven setup used (ok) or a distributor driven setup (not ok)

But, as long as it reads twice cable speed, the tach face can be changed. It is probably from a 250 or 300 hp 62, or a service replacement.

                        Bill,

Sorry for the confusion but the tach originally in the car wasn't working and was replaced just before I bought the car. That is the reason the fitted tach is an 'odd combination' for a '59 (or better stated: 'wrong')

                        greetings,
                        Rob.
