    1955 V8 Carb Choke Interference ??

Has anyone tried to use a 60-62 1x4 air cleaner on a 1955? I know the choke position changed in 1959 (??).

The repro 55 air cleaner is only some where between $1,800 and $2,000 , not
    %100 correct but cheap,cheap!
I'm happy I have two NOS ones.

                    I gotta think...

...that since the 55 lacked the clearance "dent" of the 56-7 air cleaner, the 60-2 should clear the 55 choke. Doc, you send me one I'd be happy to try it out on my original 55 carb. Check the link, and before anybody winges about the engine color, I fixed it. New photo soon.

                        Re: I gotta think...

Thanks Dave. A fellow asked me to suggest an economical replacement for the original 55 air cleaner. I suggested the 60-62 1x4 with a serviceable element. My only concern was that the position of the choke might interfere with the location of the relief areas on the air cleaner base. I have admired your 55 before. Someday I hope to add one.
Roy: not everyone will step up to the plate for that expensive repro and the economical real original ones have long ago evaporated.
