I have had good luck with a cover from Mid America Corvette parts. I am sure there are others that are just as good.

I just got a new cover - cotton with a flannel lining - very nice, well made and soft on the paint I hope. It is made by "Back East" car covers and I got it thru Corvette Central. It is an indoor use only cover though.

Re: Mike what car did you end up getting

i had posted that i wanted a 63 swc on a few websites and i got some responses and i went with a car in Tennessee. i drove up there with a trailer, the car was very nice and i bought, hauled it home, and been having a blast with it ever since.

thanks for all the pointers. the prices at bloomington were out of control. i bid on a couple at the auction, but looking back, i am glad i did not win because the car i got is much nicer than the ones i could afford at the auction. the way the prices were going up there, i dont think you can go wrong buying a midyear, and i bet the prices will continue to rise.

well i am one happy guy right now. the car i got already has the vintage air in it, new brakes, all new bushings, new tires, knockoffs, nice paint and interior. i am totally satisfied. it needs nothing, totlally ready to go.

                    thanks,

                    mike

                        Mike,

The cover you choose should be based on where you will use the cover. If you keep your car inside, then a flannel cover will probably be the best as it is soft and washable. That is what I have on my Vette stored in the garage.

I have had at least a dozen covers for my cars over the last 15 years. Nine of these covers were made of Kimberly Clark’s Evolution 3, 4 or Noah material and are advertised for outdoor use, which is what I wanted. These products are a waffled layered sandwich fabric. My experience is that they are not very durable and I would not recommend them. I found after a couple years of outdoor use the material leaves a residue on the car after it has rained. The residue is like a talcum powder. It makes a mess of the car and I then had to wash the car. I have experienced this problem with all the car covers made with Kimberly Clark’s Evolution 3, 4, and Noah fabrics. The fabric and/or chemicals apparently break down after a two or three years of outdoor exposure and deposit the residue on the surface. Another problem with this fabric is that it easily rips. Do not wash these covers in a washing machine as they will rip and the cover will be ruined.

The cover I have found that works well for outdoor use is covers made with a material called Weathershield. It is a lighter fabric and much stronger than the Kimberly Clark’s layered fabrics. Weathershield fabric is much easier to fold and store than the bulkier Kimberly Clark fabric and can be easily washed in your washing machine with no damage to the cover. CoverCraft makes covers with the Weathershield fabric. One place they can be found is at www.autoanything.com. I have a couple of these covers and they are the best I have had for outdoor use.

Well, that is my two cents worth of opinion based on experience of car cover use. Good luck.

                        Rod

I have found Wolf covers, sold at the vette suppliers, at Buyautomotive.com much cheaper, by around $50 less. Shipping is only about $8 too, and the service is great, I have bought about 4 times from them.....Craig
