You don't mention the year of the car but by writting Stingray as one word I would assume you are talking about a C3. The backing of the emblem has adhesive on it. A small amount of paint thinner carefully applied with a q tip should loosen the adhesive. The paint thinner will remove any wax on the car. You may want to apply some wax to the area after.
Don't use anything stronger than paint thinner it could remove the paint.

Greg I use a soft plastic body work spreader next to the paint and a puddy knife and hope I pull no paint. Lyle

If the emblems are attached with the double sided tape it is almost impossible to remove them without damaging the paint. Unless you have a real good reason for removing them I would suggest you leave them alone. However, if you must remove them I do not have a suggest on how to accomplish the task. I can only tell you that applying heat (low level) with a hair blower DOES NOT work. This method was used by the body person that did some touch up work on my 69 and was unsuccessful.

Use dental floss to saw them off. Works like a charm on newer style emblems with the foam type adhesive. I'd also put some tape above and below just for protection.

3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner #08984 will soften the tape quite nicely, and won't affect the paint.
