I have a 1970 350-350 with stock exhaust which is very quiet. I love the mid-year sidepipe sound. Has anyone tried the under car chambered exhaust systems that claim side pipe sound. Thanks Rick

Re: chambered exhaust
Rick:
I had a '69 Camaro with the chambered exhaust. The sound is terrific and deafening if used on a car with HIGH COMPRESSION. My car was a L78, so with 11 to 1, and being a solid lifter engine, the sound was awsome.
Since you have a 11 to 1 motor as well, it should have an appealing resonance, although without a solid lifter cam, it may be a bit softer sounding.
I've seen and heard chambered on lower compression engines and they sound like glass packs! Hope this helps with your decision making. Good luck.- Top

Re: chambered exhaust
One thing I have learned on this board is that exhaust sounds can vary quite a bit based on whether the mufflers or chambers are original GM pieces or repro parts, or even based on the company (design) making the repro parts. I can not say that I have heard what I know to be original GM sidepipes, or even an original GM Camaro undercar chambered setup. I have a '68 327/350 with an Allen's undercar chambered exhaust. I'm sure there are some differences in sound, but as far as I can tell it does have that 'chambered' sound.

Re: chambered exhaust
I have changed a the exhaust on my 70 to a 2 1/2 inch system and added a ZZ1 crate engine. Using mufflers I bought from one of the Corvette venders. It makes some noise, to me not unpleasant and really like the sound when driven agressively. Name of the mufflers are Pace I belive. Have had this set up for many years. The chambered exhaust systems I have seen on Corvettes seem to hang lower than the original systems underneath the differential.- Top
