I have a '65 L-79 with power brakes and a mild cam. Is 11 inches of vacuum supposed to be enough to power the booster without interruption? Every once in a while I loose the power assist to the brakes. Wondering if it has enough vacuum or do I have a leak somewhere?
I wouldn't describe a cam that only generates 11" of idle vacuum as "mild", however, the L-76 "30-30" mechanical lifter cam only geneates about 10"@900 and it was available with power brakes, so I don't think you're problem is lack of manifold vacuum.

I had a 64 L76 with power brakes years ago. Never had a problem with losing the power brakes as long as the car was running. Power was steady and constant within a couple of seconds of starting the car.
