    C3 Dash Removal

Is it necessary to remove the dash to gain access to the speakers? My left speaker isn't operational and I may need access to it.

Since the '68 and I think '69 have them in the kick panels, no.

The left dash speaker is hard to get to with all the instruments unless you have 4 ft long arms. You can try removing the instrument panel back towards the steering wheeel and reach in that way.

        Robert,
I believe it is possible. First remove the header and side trim at the windshield and then loosen the left dash pad and the center console so you can move them a little. In addition remove the lower trim and bolts holding the steering column to allow some additional movement. Remove the right dash pad completely to give you more room and to get at the upper dash pad and the screw that anchors the upper dash pad to the firewall. At that point it is possible to carefully remove the upper dash pad by "twisting" it upward thus gaining access to the left speaker. Go slow and be careful as it's a nasty job. While you are in there I suggest you lubricate the tach and speedo cables and change the headlight switch w/ a nice NOS piece. Parts are cheap compared to the time involved. Good Luck.
