Re: C1 58 Paint saga
Urethane single stage can be "cut and buffed" like lacquer, but with any single stage metallic paint, it is susceptable to motteling and streaking when the metallics are disturbed. That's ome reason bc/cc is so popular with amatuers; all the post paint "clean-up is done on the clear coat and won't afect the color coat.
My only suggestion is to spray another top coat and be sure the metallic is well mixeed in the paint. There used to be an attachment folks used when cup guns were popular that bubbled air into the cup to keep the metallics in suspension. When spraying, it is important to keep the pattern perpendicular to the work area and avoid wet and dry spots. You can get away with a lot with solid colors that you can't with metallics.
Maybe that's why so many Corvettes are red!- Top
