    transistorized ignition 1966 427/425

I have a 66 427/425 that had the transistorized ignition taken out prior to me owning it. I want to return it to original and need to know if the distributor is totally different, and if there are any identifying numbers and the location on the distributor. What company is the best source for T.I. parts and advise?
I have replaced the wire harness and also need help on wires to the sylinoid. I have a purple wire, a pink wire and a red and black. The red and black look like they both attach to the large stud at the 12 o'clock position, and I have a stud with an "r" and a stud with a "s". Which wire goes where? Thanks

    Jerry,

    Try http://www.tispecialty.com .

Talk everything over with Dave Fiedler who is the owner. Dave is the man when it comes to TI.

The only components of the distributor that will interchange between a standard point type and a TI are the housing, cross gear/adapter, drive gear, centrifugal advance weights, vacuum control, cap, and rotor. The main shaft with auto cam and centrifugal advance springs will physically interchange, but they're different for the standard and TI distributors for your application. A good source for TI distributors, advice and service is Dave Fiedler at TI Specialties (www.tispecialty.com).

As far as the starter wiring goes, the purple wire goes to the "S" terminal on the solenoid. The other wire, whatever color it may be, with the small round terminal on the end goes to the "R" terminal on the solenoid. The large diameter black wire (battery positive)goes to the large terminal on the solenoid.
