I have a friend with a '64 300/327 that had the black w/ pink wire from the iginition switch to the balast resister "fry" (burn the insulation off). I seem to remember seeing this happen once before. Obviously something was grounded that should not have been. Does anyone know the "usual" problem when this occures? I have "sometimers" and do not remember the problem when I saw this before. Thanks, Don H.

Re: 64 ignition wire
I had a similar fry on my 63. The wire from the coil to the starter melted when I tried to start the car. The ignition shielding top cover was touching one of the wires on the coil. You may want to check the shielding.- Top
