Hi Guys, is it possible for a car built in St. Louis to have the same exact date for the body build date and the date stamped on the engine pad? I always thought the engine date should precede the body build date. Both share the same date on this car. Is this possible? Thanks in advance...

Re: engine stamp and body build date code
Good day. Joe, what year car? When you say "car built in St. Louis" are you referring to the final assembly when the car left the line or a body build date? Also, how did you determine the "build date" you reference. This will help answer the question.

Re: engine stamp and body build date code
Hi Harry, It's a 63, and I'm told they were all St. Louis(none were A.O. Smith bodies for 63) The body build date code on the top left hand side of the trim tag reads J3, which is June 3. The engine stamp reads F0603... also June 3. This is what is confusing me. I thought the body build date always must come after the engine was built. This is where I'm hung up.- Top

AHHH, This now makes sense! i thought the J3 equated to the 3rd of june. The 3rd week of June would make it all good. Thanks for your insight. I was banging mu head against the wall all night over this one. Thanks again to all who respomded... Joe- Top
