    C2 Fastener details

Does anyone know if there is a detailed book or other source out there that describes for a C2 the specifications for original fasteners? What I am looking for is a complete listing (or at least for the major items) that lists by application the size, material, finish, etc. for screws, bolts, nuts, etc. You can buy screws and bolts from just about every supplier, but how do I know if they are correct for the labeled application? I frequently open a package and think to myself "these screws just don't seem right for this application". I wonder if suppliers are just throwing screws in a package and labeling them?

    Tim,

Other than Joe Tripoli's chassis book the only other place I've seen some information on fasteners (for 66, I think, but it might have been for C2s in general) is in an article in the Restorer from many years ago. I can't remember the name of the author or the year/issue though.

The best way I've found to get this information is by looking at low-mileage, unrestored cars, but those are few and far between, and even then it's often hard to tell if some undercar bolt was black phosphate or natural, since both deterioriate significantly with time.

            Tim,

I found the "Vette Vues Fact Book" on the 63-67 Corvettes by M.F. Dobbins had a good listing of fastener sizes, head markings and finishes at back pages. Not everything was covered, but as one who bought a previously-dismantled car with fasteners all mixed-up in freezer bags, the information was very useful. Good luck!
