    "62" TRANSMISSION #'S

    TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TRANNY THIS IS AND IF IT IS ORIGINAL? ON THE LEFT SIDE OF TRANNY THERE IS A TAG ATTACHED TO THE SIDE COVER # 3952659WB, ABOVE THE COVER CAST INTO TRANNY # 3884685. ON THE RIGHT SIDE CAST ONTO TAILSHAFT # 3857584GM, AND ON THE CASE STAMPED IN VERTICAL # 705407344 AND POCO64 AND CAST ON THE RIHT SIDE # 392566. ALSO LOOKING FOR INFO ABOUT LIFTING THE BODY OFF, DOES SOMEBODY MAKE A HARNESS OR SOME SORT OF LIFTING APPARATUS?
    THANKS FOR ANY INPUT

    I think that you've got some of the numbers wrong. However, from what I can make out from it, the transmission looks like it's a 1969 Muncie with a 66-67 side cover. It was originally installed in some model other than a Corvette.

        Check the NCRS Store on this website (C1 library). The Body Lift Workbook is a checklist for prep to lift the body. There are numerous ways to do the lift, and a sling is one of them. Several vendors sell them, Corvette Central is one.
        I have some pictures of the apparatus (not a sling) that I used to lift my 63; e-mail me if you are interested.

            The P0C064, stamped into the main case, is a Muncie date code. BUUUUUUUUUT, I really think it is P0C06A.
            If so, here is how it translates:
            P=Passenger Muncie
            0=1970
            C=Mar
            06=day of month
            A=M20 (wide ratio), a B=M21 and a C=M22.
            Thus, what I see is a Wide ratio Muncie, built Mar 6, 1970.

                Also, I forgot to mention, that casting number on the tail housing (3857584) is for a 65-70 Muncie---------------ONLY. So for sure, you DO have a Muncie.
