It is hard to believe that they could do all that in just a week. I guess if you throw enough money and people at it, anything is possible. Unfortunately, it gives people a completely unrealistic idea of what is involved with restoration. I wonder how many people will be buying their first restoration project and expecting to complete within a few short weeks or months!

Very neat car. The "carb problems" with the engine were obviously staged, since you could see the coil wire was disconnected when they were turning it over.

It also gives a very unrealistic look at restoring, since it wasn't restoring, from what I saw. It was rebuilding but not restoring.

The really sad part is that it looked very straight, like one of those nearly untouched cars so many would love to hve to really restore.

Instead, they did a Hot Rod, Car Craft, etc "restification" of the car.

My first thoughts were, it was the lady's father's car, and what if she wanted to restore it to as new condition? Can't now.

But then, I watched the behind the scenes episode of Tradin' Spaces the other day, and this stuff is so staged, it is incredible. (the shot of the designers meeting the homeowners is shot over and over until they have the reaction they want, just like TV or a movie.) Life unscripted, it ain't!

As to 7 days, sure, why not. They built them originally in under 7 days. All it takes is people and money.

It may be small consolation, but each one that is modified makes the remaining original ones more valuable -- and not just momentarily.

I sure hope she wasn't wanting to restore it. I think of how I'd feel to find my 97% original, though tired midyear now rebuilt as a hot rod.

"Honest your honor, I was temporarily insane. My Bow Tie Corvette was totally destroyed as a hot rod and I don't remember killing my spouse and half of the guys from the show. I don't remember a thing after seeing the car."
