Mostly dark brown to black, huh? It sounds like the power steering fluid has either mixed or gone to the bottom. If he can get the system flushed quickly, he may be OK; otherwise, he might have to rebuild the MC. I would disconnect the lines at the wheels and plug them to insure contaminated fluid doesn't get into the wheel cylinders and flex hoses; that would isolate the damage to the MC.
The rubber MC cover material probably has immunity to hydrocarbon exposure under the hood, so those should be OK.
Nice old trucks. I have seen two or three restored and driving around town here.
