    C! Transmission gear ratios

    Does anyone know what the dark green plastic speedometer cable gear in the transmission symbolizes? Does it by any chance tell what the final drive ratio is? My original pumpkin is gone therefore I have no clue what its original ratio should have been. Thanks!!

    Check out in parts book...

    There is a table in the Corvette parts book that might help. I don't recall what group number.

        yes, they are color coded, don't have the codes in front of me but if you count the number of teeth it goes like this
        20 teeth = 3:36
        21 = 3:55
        22 = 3:70
        23 = 4:11
        24 = 4:56
        The 20 tooth is blue and the 21 is a dark red, don't remember the others.
        I don't believe GM made speedo gears for 3:08 or 4:88, but they were available way back when in the aftermarket sector. Hope this helps. Also the 3:70 and up gears have been discontinued, the 3:36 and 3:55 are still avaiable, if you can't find them I have a few left. Also have a 3:08.
