    C3 Glass

How do I polish my windsheild and windows? Is there something special to use? All the cars I see at car shows have spotless glass. Mine looks like 35 year old glass. I am hoping there is a way to make mine look nicer. Thanks

I use a product called 'Amaze' that my glass vendor (for the fleet I administer) reccomended. Almost like jewelers rouge in feel and it works real well. I does take a bunch of elbow grease and if you only go half way it leaves swirls.

Eastwood sells the polish - Cerezium(sp?) Oxide -- and the felt polishing wheel. It takes a low speed polisher to drive it, which they will also be happy to sell you.
The same material and tool is available from suppliers to the glass industry -- Sommer & Mecca is one such company.
This project takes an outrageous amount of time to do well. I spent about 16 hours on each side window of my 1970, working about two to three hours a day (actually each evening after work). I did not do the windshield -- I had had enough with the side glass.
I suspect that the brand-new looking glass you see at the shows is exactly that -- brand new. More expensive to get, but far less time.

Hi, I have had excellent results with products designed to take the soot off the glass of gas fireplaces windows. It can profoundly improve the clarity of the glass. I forget what it is called but it comes in a little bottle and squeezes out like liquid tooth paste. I use a 6 inch synthetic buffing disk on a drill and work it in. If will cut through all the hard water stuff and take fine scratches off. I have also taken those rust stains off with it. I have also taken the black gray looking marks off that come from repeatedly dragging the glass over a metal surface. Those last two take a little more work. But, it works well and it is cheap. Much easier when the glass is out of the car of course.

Scratches that you can snag your finger nail in are tough to get out. I think some of those other kits may work at that. If you have a felt wheel you can work the scratch and basicly polish the inside of the scratch and reduce its appearance but I think the scratch will remain if deep. Some of those rain products will reduce the appearace of a scratch because they fill in the imperfections of the scratch. I have experimented with super glue and had some Ok results as I remember (weird).
