My car finally arrived at the body shop this morning (66 b/b roadster yellow with black interior)to start its repaint.I have a few more questions I need help on 1.The back cover for the top does not align proper I can not get a good lines passenger is good but driver is real close. It seems that if I ground down the cover on the drivers side I could make the lines perfect any advise. The car seems as if its a no hit car.2nd question my heater box cover is off and it looks like grainy fiberglass with white strands showing thru should I just clean it and put it back on this way or give it a coat of paint. If I am supposed to paint it what color and texture.3rd question is side cover's by dash board and rear trim cover behind seat mine are a flat black paint with scratches and would like to refinish them what color and texture should I use again.and lastly the black out paint for jack storage and door jambs by where the rear trim covers goes what is the paint on that.As always thank you in advance for your input Larry

Shark owner Tries
Hi Larry:
I'll take a crack at a couple of your questions:
1.Hatch alignment can often, (not always), be adjusted by the insertion of a shim under the forward most attaching point of the covers hinge underside of the lid itself, thus pivoting the forward edge of the hatch downward.
2nd, I believe the exposed fiber condition is as it was from the factory and unpainted, others may have better information.
3rd , to the best of my knowledge, (disclaimer), these panels should be of a satin , low gloss finish, You mid year guys take aim here

Re: Shark owner Tries
I just replaced the heater core on my 71 roadster, so I had the entire heater box out of the car. The core was the original one, so I have every reason to believe the heater box is original. The condition of the box is as you described (i.e. white fiber threads showing).

Re: MID YEAR RESTO QUESTIONS
Larry,
At this point, maybe I can help you with the heater box.You are correct assuming that it wasnt painted.Im not sure of the exact progression but it was definetly put on after the firewall was squirted. However,if you are looking to duplicate the factory methods as closely as possible, the cover had a gasket that can be bought from a number of different sources. When you attach the box, along with the gasket, there is a certain amount of sealer. It seems that every original heater box installation I have seen has had that black sealer leaking down from the seam onto the heater box itself. The only way to see exactly what I mean is to find an original car.Of course, things are beginning to sound a little much to you now,but this would be a nice detail to duplicate.Anybody can do too good a job!..........Bill S.- Top
