C2 (1967) AC RH RADIO SIDE COVER

Ok here goes: I have been told that on the 1967 cars that have AC (air conditioning/C60) the RH radio side cover/panel will have the indentation for the fresh air vent/slider (this is unique to 67's), however they will not have the hole for the slider cable drilled in them. Then I have been told that the 67 AC (C60) cars have a RH radio cover/panel like a 65/66 with no slider indentation for the fresh air vent pull present at all. Does anyone have an opinion on this or know what is correct for sure?

I have talked to more than 1 person that has the 65/66 style on their 67 with A/C and I have also talked to more than one person that has the 67 style.

    Thanks in advance.

I own 3 C60 '67 cars, 2 which have original interiors; as a judge have looked at many more. None have the panel as described by Noland Adams on pg 406 of The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide Vol. 2

I am not sure of the source of the description provided by Noland regarding this issue. I have never seen one on an unrestored '67.

I do recall seeing a restored red/black coupe at Cypress Gardens years ago that had one. I never had the chance to talk to the owner about it.

I decided to search for one. Many swap meet vendors never heard of such an original panel, but one said he "had one back home and it would be very expensive" I passed on it, thinking it might be made up, not from an original C60 '67.

May this be an "urban myth" generated by Noland's book (kinda like the convex lens thing on U15 cars) ???

I have yet to find a truly untampered, unrestored car with either.

Then again I have only seen a small percentage of cars produced...

Thanks to all who responded. For some reason this panel was missing on my car when I purchased it and I had been looking for the 67 style with the slider indentation and no hole drilled for over a year. Now I know why I couldn't find one. The 65/66 RH panel should be relatively EZ to find. Now if I can just find an original paint green one to match my interior....

Jimmy - Another data point, '67 S/N 1476 w/ C60 RH panel is plain and has no provision for a vent cable pull. BTW, the it appears that the same "plain" RH panel was used on ALL '63 to '66 Corvettes plus the '67 w/ A/C; so you should be able to find one. It's the '67 w/o A/C that is somewhat unique in the it's only a '67 Corvette part. Long Island has them listed in Section #12 for reference; but I don't know how original looking the piece is. Good luck, Pete
