Factory marking on '67 inside door panel...

I just caught this paint crayon marking on the inside panel while stripping the paint. It's E-294; I have several 294's in different places on the car. The doors have power windows, which probably (maybe) put them in a different pile, aside from the manual window doors at St.Louis. My tank sticker says "power windows".

Anyone know what the "E" stands for? Does it designate power windows? Thanks, PT

    Patrick,

Probably "Electric". The workers were simple working men and power windows would be too much to write.

What's the small piece of paper thru the inspection hole there by the lock inside the door? Could that be some history?

    Regards,

    JR

I noticed the same in my car recently when I had the door apart for refurb. On mine, the "E" is listed last. Yes, my car was originally silver, and will soon be so again...

Joe, that small piece of paper is not history, it's a piece of duct tape that I put on the door handle openings to keep the yellow paint from dripping inside the door when I chemically stripped it.

Tim, I assume your silver door is a power window door, no? PT

will you be reinstalling the optional door speakers for the 8 track?

Yes, my car too has power windows. Nope, no more speakers in the door!! As you can tell from my earlier posts on door panels, I finally bit the bullet and replaced them to get rid of the speakers, they haven't been connected to anything in years anyway!
