Is the oil fill cap on a may of 59, 230hp car, cadium plated or painted semi-gloss black? Having trouble interpeting judging manual on page 56, 4th edition, please help with description. Thanks Bill

OK, all the oil filler caps were plated. The issue was whether or not there was paint over the plating and whether the plating was zinc/cad or chrome. The last time I read the Judging Guides from late straight-axle era, it was pretty clear oil caps were all painted black over zinc/cad until somewhere in the late '61 time frame. Can you quote the text that's confusing you (it might have changed since I last read it)?- Top

The text in the manual doesn't say on 230hp cars if it should be cad or black. It just specifies for the higher horse that it should be cadmium.- Top
