many parts in the judging guide state zinc or cadium. Which is the most preferrd by judges?? I am going to replate several items and wonder which to use since I have the option of either from my plater. What do you think ?

The decision on which plating to use is not really as tough a decsion as it appears. Both Zinc and Cad can be plated to where you can not tell the difference. The both can be plated so that they are dull or bright, and they both can have a chromate dip applied after plating to give the distinctive yellow gold finish that some Corvette parts shold exibit. About the only place that I still used cad plating is on radio cases since you can't solder to zinc, but cad solders like a champ. About the only way to tell if a part is zinc or cad is to do a labratory analysis of the coating.
