I've got the shift lever out with the intention of sending out for rechoming and see that cylindrical upper portion is "loose". Evidently, there is a pin which attaches the 2 pieces of the shift lever under a welded plug. What is the best or correct method to repair this attaching point or should I just rechome as it is. Do I drill the plug and reweld or can I tack weld 2-3 places at the mating surface of the 2 pieces?
