Can anyone identify head casting number 3844459 for me ?

Might you be referring to an intake manifold?

If so, then your casting number is for an intake manifold used on a 327/300 hp engine in 63-65 Corvettes, Chevelles, and passenger cars. I found no reference to a head with this casting number.
