C3 Window Tint Removal

I just picked up a car where there was window tint applied to the rear window. Can someone tell me of a way to remove the tint without damaging the glass.

It could be a pressure sensative water soluable adhesive type.

If the rear window can be removed, I would dunk it and let it set for a lengthy period in a kiddie pool (or the like) of warm water and see what happens. Another method is to place a wetted news paper against the window to help soften it up if the window can't be removed.

If it's a chemically activated tint, your going to have the devils own time to get it off and the odds are you won't without damaging the glass.

I've heard of heat guns being used, but I would be scared to death worrying about the glass exploding.

just get it started from the edge and peel it off.

I have top of the line tint on my Caddy. The installer told me to never use any window cleaner,(Windex etc) on the inside when cleaning, just plain water. Apparently somthing in the cleaner either causes the tint to come off and/or change colour. I think its the ammonia thats the problem. Try some with a razor blade and it should come off easily

My brother used window cleaner on the inside of my 90 Riviera, you would not believe the mess that the tint caused as it bobbled and lifted and deteriorated. DON'T USE WINDOW CLEANER. Probably shouldn't blame my brother, I would have done it myself sooner or later. I didn't know either.
