I am looking at a wheel that is said to be taken out of a 1969 car when the car was wrecked in 1970. The tire is 'Uniroyal TigerPaw F-70-15 WideOval'. stamped on the wheel left of valve stem is 'K 118'. On right of valve stem is '4 AZ'. From the judging manual I get K= Rim type, 1= Chevrolet, 1 = year (71?), 8 = Aug., 4= the fourth, AZ= 15 x 8 inch wheel. The person with the wheel says that K = Kelsey Hayes, 11= style of wheel, 8= Aug, 4=fourth, AZ= 1969 wheel. My question with the wheel date is if it actually came out of the car in 1970 what would the second '1' in 'K 118' stand for?
Date of 1969 wheel.

Re: Date of 1969 wheel.
Eric, You are right on and the seller is wrong. Also I am not sure if a UniRoyal tire was available in 1969. Tires have embossed codes on the inner sidewall which will identify the date manufactured. A more familiar board user could confirm if UniRoyal was used in 1969. I'm sure Uniroyal wasn't available in 1970. Sounds like this item might be just another misrepresented piece.- Top
