C1 park brake cable fasteners finish

It looks like the park brake cable lock washer and nut on the front of dash were installed before body black out and should be blacked out (I had unpainted fiberglass under washer and nut).

Per Nolands book it looks like they installed the rear cables before body drop and then the front cable after body drop.

My question is, what should the spring clip (3690157) that holds the cable into the nut be? zinc or cad? Black?

Every C1 I have had, those parts were not painted and looked to be CAD
