54 light problem, part two

After long storage the 54 is on the road. Directional lights work fine except when headlights are turned on. Then the dash indicator arrows quit as well as the front directionals. I have cleaned the tail light ground straps and run a jumper ground on the front directionals, with no change. Previous replys suggested ground problems and I agree, but I'm stumped. Any ideas on what to pursue next?

Yup-the little devils have indeed spent some time in my 54 or else those little black pellets are GM factory original.

Bill Its hard to tell if there is a supply problem or a grounding problem. The following might help deterimine which. If you can put a voltmeter (or trouble light) on the 12v contact of the directional signal, you could check to see whether the battery voltage still exists when the headlights are turned on. (the easist way might be to remove the lens and bulb and go directly to the contact). If B+ is still there, then put the probe on the ground contact. Try headlights off/on to see if there is B+ on the ground contsact with the headlights on. If the B+ appears on the ground terminal, it would indicate there is still a grounding problem. Les
