C1 - 61 Grille

I'm finally replacing my incorrect grille (I had a 62 style with a gold tint to it). My question is, do the 4 center threaded studs (2 UPPER 2 LOWER)get some kind of spacer or shim? the reason I ask is that the 4 outter can get flush with the fiberglass, but if i tighten the inner ones down, I need to close a 3/16 - 1/4" gap. Or maybe its just that all the tabs need to be bent. I thought I remember somethingabout spacers for a 62, but the grille I took out, had none and the tabs all ligned up. Thanks!!!

62's used spacers, 61's did not. Back in 61, GM put out a TSB that indcated that there were problems wth the grilles whistling, so they recommended puttin small portions of heater hose between the molding and the grille in the upper and lower corners.
