This is accually a repost of an earlier question but I didn't get any responses. I bought a new turn signal cancelling mechanism and centering spring from CC for my 62. The centering spring force seems to over ride the selection cams ability to hold the turn signal switch in the selected position until cancelled by the pins in the steering wheel hub. I found a post in the archives where Ed Jennings had the same problem and solved it by staking the sleeve on the selection pin so it couldn't rotate thereby increasing the friction between the pin and the cam. Has anyone tried bending the spring to reduce the centering force applied or modifying the ramps on the cam to make them steeper?
Second question, should there be a washer or spacer between the bottom shoulder of the cam pivot pin (screw)and the mounting boss in the turn signal housing and if so what are the proper deminsions?
Thanks for your advice
