    C1 turn signals

This is accually a repost of an earlier question but I didn't get any responses. I bought a new turn signal cancelling mechanism and centering spring from CC for my 62. The centering spring force seems to over ride the selection cams ability to hold the turn signal switch in the selected position until cancelled by the pins in the steering wheel hub. I found a post in the archives where Ed Jennings had the same problem and solved it by staking the sleeve on the selection pin so it couldn't rotate thereby increasing the friction between the pin and the cam. Has anyone tried bending the spring to reduce the centering force applied or modifying the ramps on the cam to make them steeper?

Second question, should there be a washer or spacer between the bottom shoulder of the cam pivot pin (screw)and the mounting boss in the turn signal housing and if so what are the proper deminsions?

    Thanks for your advice

    Bud...

Yes, there is a Washer that is used with the pivot bolt. The size matches the O.D. of the shoulder of the pivot bolt and if I remember correct, the washer is a special and fits in a counter sink in the canceling cam. The pivot must work freely and I brushed all the moving joints of the canceling switch with white lithium grease. I would not modify the cam ramps. When I restored my turn signal, I actual bent the spring outward to to apply more force and stay seated.

I recall your earlier post and my response. My "fix" worked in that particular circumstance. I might add that the cancel cam assy I was working with was a repo. Never had a similar problem with an original. That particular piece also would not retain the small springs on the posts until i notched the posts with a Dremmil tool. Since then, I have installed a repo cancel cam in a customer's car without any of the aforementioned problems.
