    AFB 3269S Very Early 1962

    I'm trying to determine if any 3269S or 3310S AFBs were made in July of 1961. That would be a G1 date stamp just below the Carter number. There's a BUNCH of H1 carbs out there. Anyone ever seen a G1?

    Dale if you would feel better to email me off line go ahead.I do not have an answer about the AFB.But, I am wondering about the ser. no. you are working with since I have an early no. also.

        Dale I was wondering,what is the earliest carb. you have found?Was another carb. used before the traditional no. were installed?

          I've seen several H1 AFBs. Prior to the AFBs, Corvettes used WCFB style Carter Carbs. I'm wondering if the AFB series came into prior being in applications for other marquis such as Ford or Chrysler. I don't think so but I don't know for sure.

          In the 1962 production run, as with many other model years, the first Corvettes assembled were the base horsepower cars. I would "guess" that as many as 350 of the first 1962 Corvettes were 250 Hp cars using the WCFB carburetors. That would put the first "applied" AFB at around August 25, 1961. If Carter started AFB production on August 1st 1961, the timing would be compatable with St. Louis production and no G1 AFBs would exist. Who knows?

          Maybe I should "hammer the table" and state that H1 was the first AFB. The evidence will probably then start that I'm, wrong. That's the way things usually happen!
