    1972 LT-1 Tach Problem

We replaced the tach cable because it had snapped. Now, the tach works normal between 0 and 2500 rpm. However, the tach freezes between 2500 and 3000 rpm even though the engine is revving higher. When the engine rpm decreases below the frozen spot, the tach works again between 0 and 2500 rpm.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

I would say that it's almost certainly a problem with the tachometer instrument, itself. It's possible that the reason that the first cable broke was because of this problem in the tachometer head.
