I'm about to rebuild my Holley 4160 carb. Had to take the primary bowl off the carb, remove the carb body and then twist the bowl off the gas line in order to get the carb off my 67' L79. Couldn't loosen the brass nut that hold the gas line into the carb. I almost stripped the shoulders off trying. Obviously I'm afraid to apply heat. Any suggestions on how to separate these two gas line nuts and what to put on them so I don't have to go through this next time? Thanks!! Mike

Re: difficult gas line removal
Hi Mike:
I assume you are using a line wrench on the 5/8 brass fitting. I would remove the line from the fuel pump to enable you to work on a bench, insert the 1" filter carrier nut into a six point socket held on a ratchet of breaker bar in a vise. If the 5/8 fitting still won't loosen you may have to heat it. I hope I have the sizes and fittings correct for your application. Usually the reverse is the problem, keeping them tight and leak free is more difficult.
Best of Luck
