    Re: shock repair?

I don't think so,....but I have been told Apple Hydraulics was doing this. They have a website, so you can probably do a search and find them. They are in Calverton NY.

Sorry I don't have more info.

      Rich------

Apple hydraulics rebuilds the old LEVER type shocks used on some really old cars, particularly of foreign origin. I don't think that anyone currently has the capability to rebuild mono-tube type shocks.

        Joe

Apple is fairly close to me and I have been out to their place. It's a tin building in the middle of an apple orchard. They did the MC for my 68. I should have asked them, but I did not. Other guys here on LI who are into the hobby have told me that they will do that although I have never met anyone who says they have had it done, so it's in the category of "urban (suburban?) legend".

I thougt it would be worth a call by the original post-person.

Rich, if I were John, I would make the call. I talked to Apple years ago about some work on my original front shocks, and they seemed willing to take it on. I could never understand any way the tubes could be disassembled and re-welded accurately without shortening the shock tube.

The gentleman I talked to had a heavy German accent, and while friendly and helpful, his answers were limited pretty much to either affirmative or negative...He wasn't divulging any secrets with small talk. This work will probably be relatively expensive; I decided it couldn't be justified for my car.
