Just about complete with my 60 restoration and for the last two nights the windshield frame assembly is frustrating the heck out of me. I think my biggest problem is with the posts and the top channel specificately inserting the end of the post inside the stainless. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: C1 1960 windsheild frame installation
Peter...
The windshield posts will be guided (somewhat) by the lower windshield moulding and inserted into place straight forward moving towards the glass. Not proud of my explanation, but keep working with it and it will slide into position. There is a web site that shows step by step, recorded in the archives. Be sure to install the "T" bolts in correct position...consider welding the lower tabs...(if not already) use a "pointed" extra screw w/threads to help align and hold the nut plates into position for the upper & lower frame nut plates. Remove them one at a time as you replace them with the actual screws. Best to have two people drop the assembly on the car, thus aligning the bolt-holes weatherstrip. A universal joint, wrapped in tape will help you reach the four bolts under the dash pad. Torque evenly to prevent stress on the glass, unless you want to start all over?- Top

Re: C1 1960 windsheild frame installation
I just finished my 60. I beieve that most problems are related to oversights in two areas. First, make sure ALL of the putty is cleaned from the moldings so the rubber will fit properly. Second, measure and carefully align the rubber so it is exactly centered on both top and bottom. Install the bottom and then the top channel without the stainless, then posts, screws and tighten slow and even. Pop the stainless top on last. I documented my progress from start to finish. If you would like more specifics, pictures, email me.
