    Judging Question '66

A question for a judge (and I'm sure it's been asked many times before).

According to the newest edition of the 1966 TM&JG regarding the fuel filler door, "The right flag in the crossed flag emblem is black and white checkering with the white starting in the upper left corner." According to Nolan Adams, some are white and some are black, depending on when the car came off the line.

Who is correct? I know that the TM&JG has a few mistakes, but this seems like it should be easy.

    Thanks
    Rob

      Re: Judging Question '66

Seems the flag checker pattern on Corvette was a 'fickle' issue that changed periodically by emblem and emblem position on the car. Part of the judging issue is compounded by the fact that early build cars might 'burn up' left over inventory from the prior model year and late build cars could see substitution of parts from the next model year.

But, if your car isn't a first/last month build, the current Judging Guide is your best input on what's considered 'correct'. If you strongly believe a given emblem on your car is a correct/factory original and that deviates from the JG book, then you're on the horns of a dilema. We judge by 'typical' factory production norms leaving the burden of proof on the owner to document exceptions....
