'60 weatherstrip install - advice requested

I'm ready to (re)install all of the weatherstripping on my freshly painted 60 (yippee!). I would like to hear from others who have attempted this - specifically the "what not to do" category, and any other helpful tips. Thanks!

    Matt...

If the car is to be judged, use a clear yellow adhesive. Slight smears of the adheshive are required.

Check the mount hole retainers in the door bottom, If they have been painted over, best to replace with new ones. I used a small wood 2X2 to push the weathersrip pins into the holes as I applied the ashesive. Have strips of masking tape ready to hold the weatherstrip in places (like the corners)and do not remove until the adhesive is set. Adhesive cleaner & a small rag is a must for clean-up as you go.

Top of the window post will require some t******* & I taped a flat paint mixing stick to apply pressure for holding the weatherstrip in place. I used this same method at the door opening edge & the deck lid opening edge. The molded ends must be pushed back during setting of the adhesive to provide proper fit with the body.

Deck lid has three ribs,in two pieces, havint the butt on the drivers side. The trunk butt is at the center bottom. (check the AIM, as its been a while)

    Have Fun...

Using the instructions on the adhesive, coat the surface of the weatherstipping and area where the weatherstripping will attach. Let it dry and then apply fresh adhesive and install it.

Clean the surface of the new weatherstrip first with alcohol to remove the mold-release compound that's on it, so the adhesive will hold following the "tack" procedure; otherwise, you'll do it twice.
