I am looking for a set of mags very similar to the 1978-81 Corvette era. Although these mags seem to have only come out in 8 slotters, I would prefer a 6 slotter, if they exist!
Any information you can provide me would be helpful as I am having heaps of trouble finding it!! (Live in Australia)
G'day, Andrew. NCRS members tend to be interested in either (1) wheels exactly like those that were standard equipment for any given model year, or possibly (2) aftermarket wheels that could have been added when the cars were new (for the nostalgia).
You have a concept of a wheel you believe would be attractive, and are essentially asking if it exists in the market place. Most NCRS guys won't be much help on this question. The internet, however, is a fabulous resource for that kind of knowledge. I typed "car wheels" in my browser window just now and got 2,064,428 hits...just start working your way through. If you don't find what you're looking for after the first couple of hundred sites, then your vision for the ideal wheel probably doesn't exist. Good Hunting.
I believe you are thinking of classic wheels available back in the sixties. They were probably the original inspiration of the later C3 cast aluminum wheels. See the attached link and check out Fenton Gyro, Ansen Sprint, Cragar Magmaster, and others. Your best bet will be to find modern nostalgia reproductions. If you want originals, keep an eye on ebay auctions and be prepared to pay plenty. You're right about the wheels...nice touch for an old Corvette.
