    C2 (64) Clock Bracket Ground?

My center dash lights have never worked. I always assumed it was a bad bulb. I examined the bulb and it works. What I found is the clock bracket that the bulb holder and hood clips to to illuminate the heater and radio control indicators is not grounded. I can supply an alternate ground and it works.
Does it get it's ground from the clock being installed? Did'nt seem likely.
I couldnt see anywhere in the assembly manual where a separate ground is supplied.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Gary,

It does not seem likely but that's where the ground comes from to the dash lamps. Clever of GM to save another ground strap.

    Regards,

Yup, the "bullet" lamp housing for the heater control bezels grounds by contact between the upturned lip on the end of its clip and the outside of the clock case; if the clock isn't connected, there's no ground path. Flaky, but cost-effective
