Ignition Box

I plan to use an advanced ignition box on my 1970 LS6 engine. At the moment I have just the Mallory unilite module together with a Mallory 29216 coil. What are the pros and cons for MSD 6AL vs. Mallory Hyfire VI-AL boxes?

Which one should I use?

Cannot speak for the Mallory, but have used the MSD boxes and coils for over 10 years with no failures. Great up grade to standard ignition. Just use the points to trigger the system.

A Mallory Unilite system in my '72 L-48 left me on the side of the interstate and walking. The only person who stopped and offered help was another Corvette owner. Have not experienced any problems since reverting back to the original configuration.

Several years back, I switched two or three cars to Mallory Unilite systems. On the side of the road two or more times. Lousey infrared light would "burn out". I've had no failures so far with Hall Effect (magnetic) systems.
