    C2 Transmission Cooler Bracket?

    Members,
I have removed the transmission cooler assembly from the '65. Also want to remove the two brackets that attach the cooler to the front cross member.

Need some understanding and help to remove the bolts that hold the brackets to the cross member. AIM shows that the bolts thread into NUT-SPL P/N 3769099.

Problem is, bolts and special nuts turn around and around in the cross member. How does one go about holding the NUT-SPLs to unscrew the bolts?

    All tips are appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Gene

    Re: C2 Transmission Cooler Bracket?

    Gene,
The nuts on my '66 also turned when trying to remove. I removed the support and found the lower radiator support was badly rusted and the nuts, which hold the cooler bracket, had rusted and had come loose inside the support. It appeared they were somehow pressed-in or possibly welded. I found no way to remove the bolts unless you cut an opening on the back side. Replacement nuts and bolts are available from Long Island.
    Good Luck,
    Ronnie
