    Getting to Carlisle

Coming from Dallas, what is the closest airport to Carlisle?

Major airport - Philadelphia, Pa. (2 1/2 hrs. drive to Carlisle) ; Smaller airport - Harisburg, Pa.(45 min. drive to Carlisle)

Baltimore, Washington DC also 120 miles away

Planned to go this year (last time was 1997) but changed plans after learning that on-site camping no longer allowed for this event, and that non-Corvette (ie. rental car) parking is off-site. A real hassle, IMO.

Was too spoiled with the direct 13 hour drive from Montreal -- park the Corvette and pitch the tent; 3 minute walk to the vendors.

"on-site camping no longer allowed for this event" - unless you consider the ones who stay at their swap meet spots. But we won't name names in order to protect the innocent.

"and that non-Corvette (ie. rental car) parking is off-site. A real hassle, IMO."
I've never found crossing the street from the myriad of available lots to be that much of a hassle. In fact, the last two years I park near Gate 1 literally steps away from the gate. It's much closer to the swap meet than parking out in the "Fun Display," and in recent years the on-site Corvette parking fills up so you'd have to park off-site by mid afternoon too.

It's nearly the same distance from my home here in W Mich, but I go absolutely every year, and wouldn't miss it. In fact, I increase the "hassle" by staying about an hour away from the show with friends, but it's still my favorite weekend of the year and the best Corvette show around. Bloomington is now only 3 hours away and far less hassle, but I gave up on that show and haven't gone in 3 or 4 years.

            Wayne,
13 hours from Montreal???? That's a good one.....We make it in nine hours easily and if you were in a Corvette it may have been less....You shouldn't miss Carlisle...it's the best show in the east by far.....if you fly into Harrisburg, I'll pick you up.

The Armory which is next to the back gate not allows overnight camping, I always park in a non-corvette at the John Deere Dealer right beside gate 1 you can't get much closer than that.

                Steve,

For about $15 or $20 a day you can park your camper about 150 feet from gate 7 in a private lot. We have done that at other Carlisle events and it works great. Don't miss it, its a great Corvette gathering.
