gas door for 63E

The roller type gas door of my early 63 SWC needs to be restored. The tabs, which hold the emblem in are broken. The emblem is original, but the paint is nearly gone.
How can one repaint the emblem ? Who carries the paint ?
Can the tabs be replaced and how ? The door is potmetal, and I dont think can be soldered.
Is there someone who restores those things ?
If worse cmes to worse, I will buy a replacement, but I would like to maintain originality...

Contact Mr. Jerry Cribbs in the NE Chapter. See the Restorer, he is an officer. He did a wonderful job on my 63 roller door with broken tabs over 25 years ago. I think he may have used a repro center emblem however and did not repaint the old emblem. CRS Usually the plastic even if not to faded will have internal cracks from age.

I don't think Jerry does this anymore for love or money, however he may assist in information. Then again, it's his trade secret, but I will not divulge.

Just about any Corvette can be maintained 100% original and authentic. It's a matter of stepping up to the plate and spending lots more money. That's where repro's come in. A cheaper compromise. No muss. No fuss.

PS My original is so nice now, I'll probably use a repro for the street and leave the original under glass for safekeeping in stemwakking lessons.

Rainer...I repaired my '63 roller door with new repo insert but retained the tabs; if interested, shoot me an email and I will provide you with pictures and instructions on this repair. Worked for me.....Bob, Carolina Chapter.
