Re: 63 stingray
The engine ID is stamped on the pad at the right front of the block. If you have the original engine, it consitst of a 3 followed by the serial number part of the VIN number. Then the letter F for Flint, the date of assembly as month and day and finally a two digit alfa code to denote the engine size and transmission type. So, if you don't have a 14-character stamping, you don't have the original engine. I have no idea what the number you found means. Hope this helps.- Top

Re: 63 stingray
The V1105 YH...decodes partially as follows. V=Flint engine plant, the letter V being used from 67 up (I think) instead of "F". The 1105= November 5, the 11th month, 5th day. This is the assembly date of the engine. The YH...no idea. Check the casting number on the drivers side back of the block...bellhousing flange area and tell us what that is. Also, check the casting date on the passengers side, bellhousing flange up near the distributor. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight
