You might want to check the INTAKE bolts- If you have one that is too long it will interfer w/ the pushrod and make the noise you are describing. Back out the intake bolt- see if it goes away. Don't ask me how I know....

ok, i won't "ask how you know"- obviously, a "friend" told you about this. but when your friend described this, did the noise come on soon after the intake was installed?? i installed mine over 3 years ago [maybe 3,000 miles] but the noise only started recently. do you think the bolt problem might come on a lot sooner??

ps we must have the same " friend". boy could he tell us about all of the mistakes "he's" made.
The intake had been on a while- I was cleaning the valve covers and replacing the gaskets. Found that some oil was coming out of the intake's bolt hole. Tightened it up- leak stopped-then was looking all over the valve train for the noise because I had only removed & replaced the valve covers. And thought tightening the bolt couldn't have done that?! I called my friend @ the machine shop and w/o any hesitation said "the bolt is hitting the pushrod-the clearance is real tight there." As the car was running -simply backed out the bolt-and it went away.
I know you have been working on it(engine)-and if you're like me often there in lies the problem!!!
Try it -see if it works it-as my "friend" says "never assume anything!!!"
