I just removed the 2 threaded coolant plugs, on either side of the block, with an 8 point wrench and was amazed at how easily I broke them loose. As soon as I unthreaded the plug on one side, coolant started to pour out. When it finally drained, I inspected the inside (what little you can see) and took a piece of coathanger and stuck it up inside the block to see if any crud was in the jacket. Amazingly enough, the inside of the jacket seemed to be free of any debris.
The previous owner told me that the engine had been completely rebuilt at 50K miles, and I have no reason not to believe that. The question is, since the plugs came out so easily, and there was no sign of blockage in the water jackets, would that evidence point to a well maintained engine, or the sign that the block was hot tanked during a rebuild? Thanks, Patrick
