Hello. The last time I bought acrylic lacquer paint was somewhere around early 2001. I am in lower CT. Is lacquer paint now totally banned in all 50 states? I know this was coming for a while, but it seems it was still available in Connecticut for longer that some other states. Can I buy factory correct colors anymore from any source? Or is it truly all long gone now? Craig

Re: Acrylic lacquer paint
Thanks to a recent post here about touch-up paint, I just bought some lacquer in bottles for my 54 and 66. Got it from Levine Paints in Ct. Great price and super service. I don't have their number handy, and its pouring here in Maine so I don't want to run out to the garage, but look in posts under touch-up paints about 7-10 days ago. They say that they handle all kinds of paint and were easy to deal with on the phone.

Re: Acrylic lacquer paint
PPG paint dealers still stock lacquer paints. check the 'phone book for one near you. I do not believe Lacquers have been banned for restoration use in any state. Comments to the contrary are usually from businesses who have made a business decision to not use than and who still want you to spend money with them.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Acrylic lacquer paint
I think that one of the problems that you will find with lacquer is that a lot of the mixing colors are not available anymore. Some of the car colors are about impossible to mix. The "offset" colors that the paint mfgs. list today are not even close on some of the metallics.
