Re: C-3 dhash lights
how stupid am i....i got to really looking at the tiny, tiny fuse box on this thing and there wasnt even a fuse in the slot for the dash lights.I put in the 5a it said and looks as if they are gonna work....but now i have a new issue. For some reason the last 2 times i have diven it,there seems to be anti freeze in the passenger floorboard. But only on the very bottom of the floorboard, not anywhere around the sides. And you cant see it dripping anywhere.
And i guess while i am posting,i will ask another question. When i bought this car it pulled to the left pretty bad.So assuming it was out of alignment i took it to the chevy dealership to have it checked. He said actually the front was almost perfectly in alignment, but because all 4 of the rear bushings in the strut arms were bad, that is why it was pushing it to the left.Anybody else have this problem? And will it hurt to drive it a little like this?A corvette guy here where i live says when i go to replace them(bushings),buy the adjustable rods(corvette central) with the bushings already in them. And since the rear spring is weak, buy the fiberglass upgrade one and do it all at once.
I tried to get the rear strut arms loose myself since the guy at the chevy house said i could replace them myself, but couldnt even get them to budge off if the shock mounts.Any ideas on that?
I hated to come on here and sound so stupid, but i just got the car a few weeks ago and am pretty mechanically inclined and would like to do as much to this car as i can.Ive just never owned one

Re: C-3 dhash lights
Mike since you seem to want to tackle some work on your C3 yourself, I highly recommend you purchase a service manual. Your heater core is leaking. Just disconnect the heater hoses to it and flush it with water so can clean up the coolant and still drive your car since you won't be needing a heater immediately. The heater core is removed from inside the car, this is covered in the service manual. Also the shaft the rear strut connect to does not rotate. It has a flat side to prevent it from turning.- Top

Re: C-3 dhash lights
Disconnect the hoses from the heater core and block them off. It is a four to five hour job to replace the core with most of the work done on the inside the car. If I remember correctly, there is one stud that comes loose from the engine side of the fire wall. The factory service manual, which I believe that is available from the NCRS, should cover this.
The rear struts can be difficult to remove. I would suggest that if you want to do this yourself, that you buy a lower shock mount knocker. The bushings can seize on the shock mount, and the mount can seize in its bracket. A generous amount of penetrating oil, left over a couple of days, can sometimes make this easier. Sometimes the bolt on the other end will seize also. Same procedure with the penetration oil.
You can buy new replacement struts from several vendors, maybe even Generous Motors still, or as recommended by your friend, buy the adjustable. For a driver, to me it does not make any difference. If you ever plan to have the car judged, the adjustables are verious obvious.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: C-3 dhash lights
If your car is pulling to one side, I would check out the entire braking system. One caliper not working will cause the car to pull to the good side. You can easily fabricate a heater core bypass using two 3/4" copper elbows soldered together with a very short section of pipe between them to form a tight "U".
